working girl

These two words define who I've become over the last several months. I've had at least three friends refer to me this way. Why? Well for the first time in my life I have an actual career - a traveling, time-consuming, on my mind all the time career. I love it. I've also never been this busy in my life - and I love that even more. I actually just returned from Memphis this afternoon after spending the entire week there for business. A couple of weeks ago I spent an entire week in Dallas, and I will be heading back to Memphis in five weeks for work. I am really enjoying my job despite how busy I am. I find it fulfilling and I am so thankful for that. So please excuse my hiatus; I am going to make a conscious effort to update more often. I guess I need to update y'all on the entire month of March!

Well, first off, I want to say happy birthday to my blog! I started blogging exactly one year ago. My first blog entry seems like an eternity ago. Time really flies! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLOG! I wish you many more to come. By the way, have I mentioned that I am going to make a Blurb book out of the first year of my blog? I used blurb to make our wedding book and it turned out phenomonal! If you have never used blurb before, take a look at their website. It is super user-friendly and you can create and publish your own book. So cool.

Last weekend was the annual St. Paddy's Day Parade in Jackson. It is one of the top St. Patrick's Day parades in the country (only behind New Orleans) and it is always so fun! It wasn't quite as sunny as last year but we still had a blast. We went with the same group of friends that we went with last year and it was great! And here are some snapshots:

Danny and I before the parade started.
The beginning of the parade!
Danny and some of his best friends - Jack and Caleb
Me, Danny and Lacey during the parade - it was so crowded!
Lizzy and I walking with one of the sweet potato queens! She wouldn't stop for a picture so we had to walk with her to get one (that's why my hair is blowing in the wind haha)
I grabbed the green afro off someone's head and just handed it to Danny - it was hilarious!

Danny and I with the Storm Trooper from Star Wars!
Sweet Potato Queen - love her!
Our whole group after the parade. We had so much fun. Can't wait till next year!
Talk to you soon! :)

hola

Hello from Texas!

I'm in Dallas all week for work. I flew in this afternoon and will be here until Friday morning - so hopefully I will catch up on my blogging since I will be done everyday by 5pm!

This past weekend it really started to feel like Spring. It was in the low 60s and sunny and beautiful. We took full advantage of the weather and decided to do a little gardening/landscaping. Our neighborhood has absolutely no trees and that is the one thing I hate. So we bought our first tree - a Robinson Crabapple. I called my mom and told her what kind of tree it was and she said she had never heard of it! I was under the impression that this was a fairly common tree, and the lady at Callaway's told me they grow pretty fast. It is already about 7 feet tall. It's supposed to bloom pretty pink flowers. My mom told me that we should have gotten a Bradford Pear - well now we know! All we did was dig a big hole, put some fertilizer in it and then put the tree in and covered the hole. Apparently we were supposed to "pull out" the roots so they would take to the ground...well we didn't do that. We also planted some mammoth sunflowers that are supposed to grow like 12 feet tall, but my mom also said that she has been planting those sunflowers for twenty years and she's never seen them sprout. My mother has wayyy more of a green thumb than I ever will so I am pretty sure that if she can't make a sunflower grow then I definitely can't! Needless to say, I don't think our tree or the sunflowers will live long (if at all) this season.

My old high school is having a huge garage sale this weekend and Danny really wants to go. It's funny because I don't think I have ever attended this garage sale before even though I went to school there. I guess when you get older you understand the meaning of "hidden treasures" that you can find at thrift stores, garage sales, etc.

I wanted to share some pictures from Danny's trip to Costa Rica. He went over Christmas break and was there for two weeks. His entire family (immediate and extended) still live in Costa Rica. This was his first time to see everyone in over a year. This is a picture of his sweet little cousin, Christopher.

I have been begging Danny to get some of his baby pictures, so he got this one of when he was like 2 or 3 years old. How cute!

This is his entire family waiting to greet him when he arrived from the airport. He comes from a huge family!

More to come later this week! Have a wonderful day!
